Meet Ian LeRoy, working his first season with the BSP!
Ian LeRoy – Orwell, Ohio
How long have you been involved in theatre?
I have been involved in theatre for around seven years. In the eighth grade I was talked into joining the high school’s production of “West Side Story” as Baby John– no one that auditioned looked young enough. I loved it and was on stage for every production following that show. I was first asked to music direct a show (Nunsense) at my alma mater two years ago when I was a freshman in college. Since then I have music directed shows at theaters all around northeast Ohio.
How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?
This is my first season. Kevin Kern is a professor at the University of Mount Union where I attend. We were working together on the university’s production of “Company” and he told me that Bigfork needed a music director for Chicago and that I should send in my resume.
What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork?
During my free time I enjoy walking around Flathead Lake and by the river. I also spend my time reading novels and practicing the piano.
What else would you like to add?
In addition to music directing theatre productions, I am a classical pianist and conductor. I recently performed the first movement of Macdowell’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Alliance Symphony Orchestra after winning Mount Union’s concerto competition. Huge thanks to my parents, for everything.
