Continuing in our series of features on the 2013 BSP cast and crew, today we welcome back Virginia Varland, joining the BSP for a second season in 2013.

Virginia Varland — Richmond, Virginia

Virginia Varland, Costume Designer at the Bigfork Summer PlayhouseWhat role(s) do you have at the BSP?
I’m the costume designer for Spamalot.

How long have you been involved in theatre?
I began working in theatre as a freshman in high school when I stage-managed a production of Oklahoma! Throughout high school I worked in various technical fields including stage management, scenic, and lighting.

I started college at Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in light design, but after my first costume design class during my Sophomore year, I fell in love with it and later switched my concentration to costume design.

How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse? This is my second season. Last year I joined the BSP company as the costume designer for Damn Yankees.

What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork? During private time I love to take a walk by the river. But at night when going out with friends, the Garden Bar is the place to be!
