Meet Bernell Lassai III from Chicago, Illinois! Bernell is with the Bigfork Summer Playhouse for his first season in 2014. We hope you enjoy getting to know Bernell by reading the answers we asked to learn a little about this actor from the Windy City!
What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season?
Terk – Tarzan
Noah “Horse” Simmons — The Full Monty
Pepe — West Side Story
Muzzy’s Boy — Thoroughly Modern Millie
What is your personal history with theatre? I became a fan of theatre when I was in the fifth grade after seeing the Chicago’s production of “The Lion King.” It wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I was in my first musical, which was Rodger and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” as the Prince. I haven’t stopped since then.
I’ve worked with several Chicago theatres such as The Goodman Theatre, The Black Ensemble Theatre, ETA Creative Arts Foundation, Beverly Arts Center, and Open Door Repertory Theatre. Last year I had my first summer stock experience. Currently I am a Junior Musical Theatre major at The Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University.
How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse? This is my first summer at Bigfork. I was sold after the first meeting and delicious candy that DT, Frank, and Brach offered at the Midwest Theatre Auditions back in February. Being near the mountains was a huge plus, too!
What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork? I’m looking forward to adventures on the lakes and rivers, exploring Glacier National Park, and eating anything with huckleberries in them!
What are your plans after the BFSP season ends? After the season ends I’ll be heading straight back to school.
