Chase McCall - Actor from Charlotte, NCWhat is your personal history with theatre?

Well, I have been playing piano since I was 10 so I have always loved music. I went to a Performing Arts High School majoring in piano, but eventually got into more theatre. I got hooked when I saw Hairpsray (that’s when Link Larkin became a dream role) in theaters back in 2007. Then I was in my first show, Edges, my Junior year and I haven’t stopped since.

I wasn’t planning on majoring in Musical Theatre until I realized there was nothing else I would rather being doing. I attended the Univeristy of North Carolina of Pembroke for three years and then transferred to Western Carolina Univeristy this past year to complete my BFA in Musical Theatre in two years.

One of my favorite highlights is playing Link Larkin at Opera House Theatre Company in Wilmington, NC. It was my first title role in a professional setting. Another highlight would be playing Jean Valjean at Western Carolina University under the direction of Terrence Mann, who was the original Javert on Broadway and is still working on Broadway today. I never had a show carrying lead before so it was the most work I had ever done for a show. I will never forget it!

How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?

This is my first year and I’m stoked! I met them at SETC this past March and I loved it. I thought Bigfork would be the last company to offer me a spot, but they ended up the first!

Chase McCall - Musical Theatre ActorWhat is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork?

I am really looking forward to sleeping in once all the shows are in rotation! But also excited for the weather to be enjoyable so we can all go out the lake and go to the gym and what not. I can’t wait!

What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?

I will be going back to Western Carolina University to complete my senior year! Lots of auditions and showcases to do. It’s going to be great.

What else would you like to add to your feature that has not been asked? Feel free to add anything about yourself you’d like to share.

I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but moved to the Carolina’s when I was 7. I used to be Mormon so my dream role is Elder Price in Book of Mormon.
