A warm welcome back to Janie Wallace from the Big Apple! Janie rejoins the Bigfork Summer Playhouse for a fourth season, this year with dual roles as director and choreographer! Get to know Janie below.
What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season
Director — Tarzan
Choreographer — The Full Monty
I was an actor at the playhouse in 2004 playing Jellylorum in CATS and Tuptim in The King and I. I graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in directing.
I spent many years in NYC as an actor, performing in 2 national tours and many regional productions. Through that work, I started assisting, choreographing, and directing. I found I like the artistic staff side much better than performing.
Now I split my time between freelancing as a director and/or choreographer and teaching theatre and dance at a private boarding school just outside of NYC.
How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?
1 year as an actor, 3 years as a director and/or choreographer. Bigfork was really important to my development as a young performer and aspiring director. I really treasured that first summer and grew a ton from working my tail off. It has always held a very special place in my heart.
I love to sit anywhere along the Wild Mile and listen to the water. I also consume far more Brookies Cookies in a day than recommended.
What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?
Back to NYC to enjoy the rest of the summer with my fiance and dog!
What else would you like to add to your feature that has not been asked? This year’s company is spectacular. I am so proud of their work!
