Jenna_Burns_DuoWhat is your personal history with theatre?

I started singing in church and taking dance classes at a very young age, but it wasn’t until I was 8 years old that I figured out that I could do both of these things that I loved in one “after-school activity.” My first musical theatre production was ‘The Wizard of Oz’ in which I played a munchkin. I got extremely involved in the local children’s theatre, and by the time I graduated high school I had performed in 22 main stage musicals.

Around my junior year of high school I realized that I didn’t want this to just be my “after school activity” anymore. I figured out that I could actually go to school for this and pursue it as my career. I started looking at college musical theatre programs and ended up at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where I graduated from this past May.

How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?

This is my second summer at the BSP. Last summer I played Marcy Park in Spelling Bee, Mamma Morton in Chicago, Vivienne Kensington in Legally Blonde, and ensemble in The Sound of Music and Spamalot. I first auditioned for the Brach, DT, Frank, and Dwayne at the Midwest Theatre Auditions in St. Louis, MO in February of 2013 and later at the South Eastern Theatre Conference in March of that same year.

I had several friends from Belmont who had worked for BSP in the past and they had all raved about this place and the people. After meeting the BSP crew at auditions, I knew it was something I wanted to be a part of. Actress Jenna Burns always has time for a little fun!

What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork

Bigfork, Montana and the Bigfork Summer Playhouse very quickly became a home to me. Some of my favorite things to do are to go to Wayfarers, float down the river, and eat at Burgertown, of course 🙂 All with our wonderful company that makes everything more enjoyable.

What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?

The age old question to a recent college graduate… Right now my plan is to head to New York right after the season ends… you’ll have to stay tuned for the rest!

Anything else you’d like to add? I am so thankful to Brach, DT, Frank, and Dwayne for having me back for a second summer. This place is truly home to me and all of the people are family. I am so grateful that the Lord placed me in this special little town for these two summers.
