Lizzie Hatfield – Music Director

Lizzie Hatfield, Music Director at Bigfork Summer PlayhouseWelcome back, Lizzie Hatfield! Originally from Cutbank, MT, but now residing in Missoula, Lizzie is a Music Director back for her fourth season at the Playhouse. Get introduced to Lizzie below!

What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season?

I am the music director for Thoroughly Modern Millie.

What is your personal history with theatre?

I started doing theatre at a young age, performing in touring Missoula Children’s Theater shows. After my first year of college, I got a call to be a last-minute accompanist for The King and I at the Fort Peck Summer Theatre. I took the job, and have been hooked ever since!

I began accompanying shows around Missoula, which led to music directing. I have worked in summer theater nearly every summer since 2004. I have music directed all over Montana and traveled to New York City to music direct a show in 2011. This year will be my third year as adjunct faculty teaching a musical theatre cabaret class at the University of Montana.

Lizzie Hatfield, Music Director from Missoula MTHow long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?

This is my fourth season at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. One of the other music directors here at BSP, David Cody, who is on the music faculty at U of M, recommended me for the job. I also music directed a production of John and Jen with Andy Meyers and Alicia Bullock-Muth, that BSP picked up for their post-season show after seeing it in Missoula.

What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork?

I love traveling around the area. I grew up with Glacier National Park as my backyard, so I love that I get to drive up there and see the sights.

What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?

At the end of the summer, I will be music directing A Grand Night for Singing at the Fort Peck Summer Playhouse with fellow BSP director Andy Meyers!
