Alex Waitinas – Musician (Trumpet)

Alex Waitinas - Musician (Trumpet) at Bigfork Summer PlayhouseA very warm welcome to Alex Waitinas from Orwell, Ohio! Spending her first season with the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Alex plays trumpet for all productions during the BSP’s 55th season! Learn more about Alex below…

What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season?

I play trumpet in the BSP orchestra.

What is your personal history with theatre?

When I was in seventh grade I auditioned for my high school’s production of The Music Man, and I’ve been involved in theatre as an actress and singer in my middle/high school and at The University of Mount Union (Alliance, OH) ever since. I have been playing trumpet as long as I have been acting, and if given the opportunity I enjoy playing in the pit orchestra and being behind the stage as well.

Alex_Waitinas_2I am a music and theatre double major, and I love being involved in theatre in any way possible — whether it be through acting and singing or backing up a cast with my trumpet. It’s my passion and I haven’t gone more than a few months without being involved in a production for almost ten years.

How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?

This is my first season at the Bigfork Summer Playhouse. I actually didn’t know that I would be here until about a week in advance, but I packed my bags, got on a plane for the first time ever, and the rest is history!

What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork?

Alex_Waitinas_3Ever since seeing the snow-capped mountains on my flight from Ohio I have been absolutely obsessed with Montana. It is the most beautiful place I have ever been.  I cannot wait to go explore the mountains and swim in Flathead Lake. I am so excited to see Glacier National Park and hike the trails that I’ve heard so much about.

What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?

After the season ends, I will be returning for my junior year of college at the University of Mount Union in Alliance, Ohio.
