Welcome to the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, David Leppert! From Silver Springs, Florida, this is David’s first season at the Playhouse and we’re delighted to have him with us! Learn a bit about David as he responds to our “getting to know you” questions below…
What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season?
Snoopy — You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown
Kerchak — Tarzan
Baby John — West Side Story
Speed Tapper/Muzzy Boy — Thoroughly Modern Millie
Various Ensemble Characters — The Full Monty
My father’s side of the family is full of performers. My grandfather was a magician and my grandmother and father both performed in plays in school, and various other outlets. My mother’s side has lots of musicians. My maternal grandparents went to school for music, and my mother and aunt sang in choir and church many years.
I guess it’s no surprise that these pieces of my identity have lead me to a career in Musical Theatre. My grandmother noticed this in me early on and signed me up for educational classes at our local community theatre. I’ve been hooked ever since.
How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?
This is my first summer, and I’m so thrilled to be here! I auditioned at SETC on the same day as my friend and fellow company member Yael Reich. We go to school together, and the day we found out we would both be at BSP for the summer was one of my happiest.
I cannot wait to see the beauty the National and State Parks have to offer. I’ve already had a taste at Wayfarers and on a drive to Missoula early in the season, but I’m eager to see more and spend time in the great outdoors of Montana.
What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?
I’m returning to the BFA Musical Theatre program at the University of Florida. I have one more year of school to complete. This fall our musical will be Sweeney Todd, so I’m excited to return!
