Tyler_Griffin_Head_ShotA big Montana welcome to Tyler Griffin, Music Director, from New Bern, North Carolina! Spending his first season with the Bigfork Summer Playhouse, Tyler shares a bit about himself below.

What role(s) do you play at the BSP this season?
I am the Music Director for Footloose

How long have you been at Bigfork Summer Playhouse?
This is my first season!

I started playing piano when I was in 2nd grade and I started acting when I was in high school. I went to East Carolina University and studied Musical Theatre. While I was there, I wrote, directed, music directed, and accompanied several musicals. I got to travel to Mexico and music direct

The Last Five Years and I spent a summer in Greece studying ancient theatre. After graduation, I music directed for several theme parks, cruise ships, regional theaters, and resorts. In the summer of 2014, I got to open for Maroon 5 and Jimmy Buffett with a group I had music directed at The Greenbrier Resort. At the end of the day, I’m more interested in telling a good story through great music. What could be better?

What is your favorite thing to do in your “off” time while staying in Bigfork?
I’ve never been to Montana so I’m excited to see the surroundings. I also love food. So I’m hoping there is good food in Bigfork. I mean…they have a good theatre. It only makes sense they should have good food, too.

Tyler Griffin Photo 3What are your plans after the BFSP season ends?
I’m currently working on an invention I call the “flux capacitor.” I hope to install it in a 88 Model DeLorean I have parked in my garage and turn it into a time traveling device. However, I’m finding it surprisingly difficult to generate the 1.21 gigawatts needed to power the flux capacitor. Testing will continue once I’m done at BSP.
